in the fashion industry for fabric sourcing, design consultancy,
garment development, production management and branding.

Since inception, Designsource has evolved to offer the complete product process for both mens and womens fashion. The Designsource team is made up of a core of industry professionals with an extensive skill set to meet all our customer requirements.

From concept and sourcing through development to production, our team offer the expertise to tailor unique solutions for individual brand requirements.

We have established strong and exclusive relationships with premium apparel fabric mills and manufacturers across Italy, Portugal and Asia.

1983

Tony Whittaker establishes the boutique Apartment, in the historic Brighton (UK) Lanes, stocking iconic designers of the era including Paul Smith and Katherine Hamnett.

Tony also initiates the in-house brand Apartment designing and manufacturing mens and womenswear.

1987

A move to London sees Tony engaged as Womenswear Product Manager for the high end fashion company Whistles. It is here that he utilised his flair for creativity and cemented his knowledge of fabric sourcing and garment production in a cutting edge fashion environment.

Under Tony's guidance, the fledgling Whistles label attracts increased media attention and begins rapid expansion.

1991

Setting sights further afield, Tony is headhunted by Country Road Australia, moving to Melbourne as GM Menswear: an opportunity to hone his skills with product for a wholesale and retail environment in both Northern and Southern hemispheres.

Over a nine year period at Country Road, Tony assumes multiple roles of GM Menswear, GM Womenswear and GM Sourcing.

2000

With unique expertise and experience across design concept, fabric sourcing and production in both Menswear and Womenswear, Tony launches his own agency: Designsource.

Designsource’s architecturally designed offices are situated in Melbourne’s eclectic Fitzroy area, a stone’s throw from bustling Brunswick Street and just five minutes from the city centre. Expansive balconies create indoor/outdoor working areas overlooking our inspiring city skyline.
